About Nernst Equation
The Nernst equation relates the cell potential to the standard cell potential and the concentrations of reactants and products in an electrochemical cell.
Nernst Equation:
E = E° - (RT/nF) × ln(Q)
At 25°C:
E = E° - (0.0257/n) × ln(Q)
Reaction Quotient:
Q = [Products] / [Reactants]
Where:
• E = Cell potential
• E° = Standard cell potential
• R = Gas constant (8.314 J/(mol·K))
• T = Temperature (K)
• n = Number of electrons transferred
• F = Faraday's constant (96,485 C/mol)
• Q = Reaction quotient
